Enya usually starts the promotion right before the release of a new album and usually her operas are released in november. A Christmas album could maybe be released even a bit later so I'm not worried (and you all should not be worried as well)

I've just spoken to my friend who works at Warner UK in London. She has told me that "there is no Enya album scheduled for release this year". I asked her if she was certain and she replied "absolutely".

I trust her. She told me well in advance that Amarantine was going to have a Christmas repackage.

OK Ben, as I promised in the first message of this thread I will investigate a bit on this news of "no Enya album scheduled for release this year" and then comment your message.

Yeah I hope she's wrong too. It seems very odd. But she was adamant that there is no record of any release this year and that it is too late now for one to be added.

To be honest I didn't have the time to "investigate" today but I saw that Warner Italy i.e. is still promoting Amarantine Christmas Ediition and this is not a good sign considering that we are waiting for a new Christmas album...umm..no, not a good sign at all

Enya said on the ITV television interview on Loose Women last November that she was half way through the Christmas album for next year.

Thanks for the link. Well it couldn't be more clear than that. Therefore, there should be some sort of statement from Aigle as to why the album isn't coming out. They cannot be so busy that they cannot get Lee Tobin to type up a sentence to the fan base.

Well, there were plenty of nasty and spiteful remarks about the above post on other Enya forums. But it does seem that my friend was correct all along. Just as I knew she was.

It's not in their style to talk to the fan base. Remember? The official site was down until the Sumiregusa/Warner Japan scandal come out and then only after weeks of internet delirium they updated the homepage with that press release.

I think they will come out with some sentence addressed to fans maybe for Christmas.

Anyway, in October 2004, while the official site was down for some mysterious reason, someone spreaded the news that a new Enya album would have been released in a while. A new Enya song was online on the Panasonic site, the song was Sumiregusa...and it was not a fake, it was Enya for real
After a few days this news was confyrmed on Warner Japan official site and you can imagine what appened among fans on the Internet... in Enyaland to be exact
A week or two later, after months of silence, the official site's homepage has been updated with an official press release from the Trio, saying no new album was about to be released and giving explanations on this "incident".


This is the text published on Enya official site at that time:

This press release was prepared specially for the Official Enya Website. Hello to everyone.

I hope the following will help to clear up any confusion about the song Sumiregusa and the unfortunate announcement of a date of release for Enya's Album.

Very recently, we were asked by Panasonic in Japan if we could give them some suitable music for their upcoming marketing campaign for a new flatscreen TV. It should be remembered that this campaign was supposed to be confined to the Japanese market. Panasonic had sent a crew to Scotland to film some beautiful landscape scenes for their advertising campaign and were good enough to show us this before we gave a final answer. We talked about the idea and we all felt that this was a suitable vehicle for the particular piece we had in mind. We had been toying with the idea of a song in Japanese for some time and had already taken this to quite an advanced stage. We know Panasonic to be a highly respected company and we have no problem being associated with them. Panasonic intend to showcase their filmwork with "Sumiregusa" in sixteen thousand stores throughout Japan.

You may be familiar with the film "The Last Samurai", featuring Tom Cruise and the beautiful Japanese actress Koyuki. The same actress appears in the Panasonic advert.

Up until this point the Japanese affiliate of Warners (WMJ) were very happy with the whole idea as agreed and were very excited about the prospect of such a huge campaign preceding the next Enya release. Unfortunately our Japanese friends assumed that because the song "Sumiregusa" (Wild Violet) was released by us for this usage, that a new album automatically followed. In their excitement they announced a release date for an Enya album, complete with a catalogue number and a promise of an exclusive extra track. By the time we became aware of this announcement it was too late, the news was already in cyberspace. It also appears that WMJ gave Panasonic the go-ahead to use the song on their website. You need to remember that our Japanese colleagues are incredibly enthusiastic people where Enya is concerned, and though this is of course appreciated, they obviously overreacted.

None of the other affiliates knew about the news of the release date until it had been announced by WMJ. When you realise that the only people allowed to announce the release of any Enya album is either ourselves or Warner Music UK you can see the upset this has caused for everyone involved, including WMJ. However it is you, the fans, that matter most in all of this and we sincerely apologise to all of you.

Enya is particularly upset on your behalf, as she is aware of the confusion this news has caused. The last thing she wants is to build up false expectations and then to let people down.

A special word to Enya's Japanese fans - again, we are very sorry for this confusion.

Violet, I had a long telephone conversation with Warner today and the album is definitely not happening....for this year at least. I was not allowed to be told the reasons for this....despite repeatedly asking. lol

I resisted adding a note of sarcasm regarding their closing sentence, but thanks for filling me in.

Maybe I'm wrong, but could the album be released under Aigle Records and not under Warner?

The Sumerigusa incident makes interesting reading again.

It makes the current situation all the more strange.

If the Christmas album could not be finished in time then why not say so? If the Christmas album has been put to one side to concentrate on other projects then why not say so?

The fact that Aigle remains so silent and the lady I spoke to at Warner yesterday was so "guarded" makes me wonder if there is something deeper going on.

I just hope there is nothing wrong. Perhaps one day we'll find out the reason.

I can only add that, in my opinion, is not a matter of finishing the work in time for Christmas. Perhaps they announced it last year but never really signed for it with a music company.

But we will a new album soon for sure?

Cheking the interview at the link you posted Enya said she was workin at a Christmas album that "SHOULD be released next year".

Honestly I don't think the Trio will say a single word on this on the official site.

It feels a such silence about her Sometimes I'm not asured haven't I ommited a new album or not and I'm looking inside into music shop. Sometimes I'm looking into web search engine for Enya about, to see everything is ok. Sometimes I'm dreaming how it would if she entered my country for a concert. For some people like me it would difficult to describe what feelings would tumbled over, maybe like ecstasy. And there we could meet more people like us, everybody who loves Enya.
