QUOTE(Lone Wolf @ Feb 10 2006, 06:33 PM) Today Amarantine is #34 (it was #13) in the Italian charts and it’s going down in the charts of many other countries. There’s a reason to explain all this: the promoting campaign they made for Amarantine is utterly wrong. It is evident that this promoting campaign has been set up by bunch of presumptuous beginners, people who have no idea of the target they are trying to reach with the product they sell. People who have no respect and no love for Enya, the artist. Every single step has been an error, starting from that miserable album cover to those launch parties reserved to a selected group of non-fans to the nonsense of that Japanese interview with Eithne stating her fans in Japan are the best in the world, not to mention the official site mostly dedicated to Roma Ryan. After all these years they should know that Enya doesn’t need to be promoted in a “traditional” way as any other artist, just let the people know a new album is going to be released and let them listen to the music, you will sell millions of copies, you will make millions of new fans. The power of Enya is in the music itself, the secret of her worldwide success is in the charm of her personality expressed through her music but her management seems not to know this. You must love the artist, respect the artist to understand this, they don’t know you must be humble and know that your work is never more important than the “product” you are selling: Furthermore when the “product” you are trying to sell is Enya, a genius, a great artist and a best seller at the same time. It’s something exclusive and popular, delicate and strong, something special. They want us to think that Enya would be nothing without Nicky and Roma. Well, they can tell this tale to anyone but not to Enya’s true fans. -------------------- Please Enya save the whales! Say the Japanese to stop killing them! Right in every word there, no argument. The only thing I ever saw about advertising for Amarantine in Holland was a short commercial around 20 December. And I saw it only once and never again. Was pretty useless to me since I was practically stalking the guys in the local CD-shop from September and therefore got the album on the release date.
As stated above, I'm also not completely satisfied with the way things are going when it comes to promotion. That Japan business still bothers a lot of people, but then again, how close to perfection Enya may be for many people, she's not able to divide herself up to be in more places at the same time. And about that Japanese being the best fans, I'm sure Eithne doesn't mean that every other non-Japanese fan s*cks. Surely I don't even know if she would've known that remark would cause that much commotion. Also that little commercial thing in Holland (don't know about other countries), I'm inclined to say: Why did they even bother? Even no promotion would've had the same effect. I share your opinion about the people responsible for the promotion campaign. They didn't do a good job. Regarding the album cover: What else is there to nag about? I'm getting in the mood... Ah yes, the management thing. Her music doesn't need any promotion, but indeed only a notification (but please, a little more than airing that commercial a few times). That maybe explains Amarantine being in the top 10 for a few weeks only. Not enough attention is given to the promotion. That notification must not be mentioned once, but a few times with a month or so space in between. I'm not saying I can do better, but my idea about this whole thing is not comforting. Because of the bad promotion, the album gets a slight negative touch, unfortunately. That could also be another factor causing the nasty chart figures. Now I would give a lot to hear Eithne's opinion about the whole thing Well, I think this breaks my personal postrecord. Best to leave it here, I aired enough grievances about the whole thing (thanks Violet for giving a start This post has been edited by Lone Wolf: Feb 12 2006, 02:24 AM |

I've seen a lot of commercials for Amarantine, guess where? On Sky Ireland! QUOTE As stated above, I'm also not completely satisfied with the way things are going when it comes to promotion. Enya is Enya and we love her the way she is, she doesn't need to be perfect or divide herself up to be in more places at the same time. She has this space (EFO) and her official site available and both for free to send a message to her fans all over the world and say "I love you all", before to make us all jealous of Japanese fans. Don't you think? QUOTE Also that little commercial thing in Holland (don't know about other countries), I'm inclined to say: Why did they even bother? Even no promotion would've had the same effect. I share your opinion about the people responsible for the promotion campaign. They didn't do a good job. Would have not been better to spend less money for such luxurious but unuseful party to launch the album in Paris and buy more space for commercials on various TVs all over the world? QUOTE Regarding the album cover: I too hate white in such large amounts...despite the look of EFO homepage...QUOTE What else is there to nag about? I'm getting in the mood... The radio. This vehicle always worked to promote Enya the best way, by listening her music on the radio millions of people started to love Enya. Once again, let the people listen to her music and you'll see Enya on top of worldwide charts again.Ah yes, the management thing. And if really Enya can't say a thing about the promoting campaign of her album without getting a lot of comment from her advertisers and/or managers then I have a question for her: it is better to loose fans and success or to keep the same advertisers and managers who are doing a bad work? -------------------- Please Enya save the whales!
